TEIDE NATIONAL PARK

Teide National Park is the most visited in Spain (3,142,148 people in 2007), and is undoubtedly one of the most exotic and amazing places in Europe. Volcanic landscapes, moon-like, the color of their lands, the basalt flows creating the most capricious, give it a spectacular beauty.
The park was declared as such in 1954, contains landscapes of exceptional beauty and uniqueness of extraordinary geological features and global relevance. The structure of the Teide-Pico Viejo stratovolcano, Spain’s highest peak at 3,718 meters above sea level, stands at 7,500 meters above the ocean floor and is estimated to be the third in the world for its size.
Located in the central area of the island, with an area of 18,990 hectares, is home to a rich and diverse combination of volcanic features and landscapes concentrated in a spectacular setting. It is also an important area of ​​biological wealth (flora and fauna) with a large part of Canarian endemic specimens, and even the park itself.
The global importance of Teide is that it is a living testimony of the geological processes that underpin the evolution of oceanic islands. Its natural beauty and geological and archeological values ​​earned him his statement to the Park as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007.
